  • I reserved a ps3 game from Argos last year about this time, in the sale only the price increased at midnight, we didn't check. I asked at the customer service point if they would honour the sale price as a goodwill gesture as it was just less than half price. They did it as a goodwill gesture just this once. That was Argos extra in Bury.

    It's always worth asking if they will honour the sale price, depending on stock they will occasionally do it, we were lucky it was the last one they had.

    I'm not saying the company is at fault for changing the price, I'm saying I feel it is wrong the company (point of sale staff member) did not tell me the price had changed before taking my money. The staff member would not have even known about the price change which is even more surprising. You have my sympathy if you have to deal with members of the public in these circumstances.

    I accept that the email gave the information about the possible price change, but not the text message which I used as reference. Granted there may not be enough room in a text message to quote the paragraph but surely a reference such as T&Cs apply could be added? And why leave the poor pont of sale staff to deal with disgrunteled members of the public when they are apparently not even aware of the change in price?

    Good advice. Unfortunately, the circumstances (extremely busy Christmas period etc.) and the fact that I had reserved four items and could not remember which were discounted etc., meant that I missed out on that opportunity. A lesson learnt for sure! Thanks for the reply.

    That seems a much fairer way to me, although I suppose there is a difference between ordering and having goods delivered you have technically paid for and are having delivered (if that is how it works, never used the service?) and reserving goods and paying for them later?

    It is the old offer to tender situation. Nothing is binding until money has changed hands. Anyone remember the Kodak camera fiasco where they offered £350 worth of camera equipment on their website for £100 and took a large amount of orders (they never confirmed the total as I remember?) before realising their mistake?

    It was on you to read the email & text

    As for is it moral ? they made a contract to reserve the items for you, not sell them to you,that contract was made at point of payment

    It was on you to check at the point you were charged you say you checked and questioned it yet still happily left having paid it

    If you are saying that you expected to keep the goods and them to partial refund your card without you visiting the store,I think your expectations when it was your fault are too high


    They have a 28 day money back guarantee so why couldn't you get a full refund ? you would have to revisit the store & return it at your cost

    If they have offered you a gift card I would grab it quick because you are not entitled to anything in law

    So in answer to your question yes your a moaner
