Playing music on mobile phone

I'd be grateful for some help transferring CDs onto my Samsung U800 mobile phone. I'm new to playing music in this way and have never used any type of music player before.

I have ripped some to my PC using Windows Media Player 11. I then created a playlist and synchronised it onto my phone.

When I went to the Music Player on my phone and played the playlist created in Windows Media Player, the tracks were in the wrong order.

I followed the instructions in the user manual on page 25 (page 28 of the PDF) for creating a new playlist. I created a new playlist on the phone itself and added the playlist I'd created in WMP.

So now I have two playlists on my phone. On the phone's screen, the one created in WMP has a folder icon with a computer in front of it, and the other has a folder icon with a mobile phone in front of it, so there is clearly a difference between the two.

Playing the playlist created on the phone plays in the right order, but there's a 2 second gap between tracks. It's a continuous mix, so this is really annoying. Is there a way to fix this?

Why do I have to create a playlist? The playlist is the order of the tracks on the CD. Why can't I just select the album to play? This seems to be alot of faffing!

At this point, I went to the Multimedia Manager, part of the Samsung PC Studio software that comes with the phone. This allows me to view what's on the phone, as well as showing a library of all stuff on my PC.

When I brought up the contents of the phone (connected using MTP), it shows only one playlist. Also, there is a "Recently added" category, and curiously, the order of the tracks listed within it are in the same (wrong) order that the initial playlist created in WMP appears on the phone.
