Hi all,
hope someone can help. I have an vaillant ecotec plus boiler 824 R1 and the pressure gauge has dropped below the grey area but I can't seem to work out how to fill the boiler with water. I have read through the user manual but it does not seem to mention how to fill it.
any help in this matter is appreciated.

Ecotec plus has a filling loop underneath, turn the two taps so they are front to back, and the boiler will fill. When you have enough water in, turn both taps so they are side to side. Page 30 of the manual, if it's not changed.0

The filling loop may not be near the boiler ...
My boiler is in the eaves in the loft room, but the filling loop in downstairs by the hot water tank.
Don't overfill, but let the pressure gauge go to about 2 bar max, I think ?0 -

Hi, thanks for your response
I did try turning both grey knobs earlier and water came from under my washing machine (which is under my boiler) and water leaked from the left gry knob.
Think I may just stick with the electric heater for now and wait for my stepdad to come round tomorrow.
I'm usually good a figuring things like this out but boilers don't seem to be my speciality. First time I have had to deal with a boiler.0 -
There should be a piece of armoured flexible piping connected between the two grey taps. Usually it is left in place but some of the manufactures recommend it is disconnected when not in use. Check that it in place as it sounds like at least one end is not!! It might be hanging down from the cold water supply side!
When the system is cold, fill until the pressure is a little above the minimum mark on the small guage. The pressure will rise anyway as the system heats and the higher the pressure is the more it can find any minor weeps or leaks in the system0 -
Hi
You do have the installation, manual don't you? The back page is the Benchmark page which should be filled out.
As said page 30. Page 31 will tell you is should be disconnected.
Familiarise yourself with your boiler, it might save cold shivery nights when you could be warm.

on my ecotec there is a simple valve, to open and close to fill/pressurise the system.
under the boiler and on the 2nd pipe from the right.
page 31/32 of the manual.
