I'm returning to the UK mid July and because our shipment arrives first week in August we're going to rent for 6 months whilst we look for a house to buy. I've never rented before and it's only just occured to me about the references.
We've lived abroad for 5 years and Mr Sunshine will still be working for an overseas company, he isn't coming over to UK until end August and whilst I plan to return to work I won't be getting a job that quick so what happens about references and will I be able to rent in my name?

As long as you are honest, then you will be fine with some agents.
We would be happy to accept you as long as your credit check came back clear (which, if you havent been in the country then its likely to be fine), your husbands company will give him a reference, you can provide proof of ID etc.
However some agencies would not accept you (at this in my area they wouldnt).2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0
