Letter from Abbey

Hi
I received a letter today from Abbey saying that having looked at my complaint for excessive bank charges and with them winning their case they will not be refunding me any of my bank charges, I have 8 weeks to respond to this or my case will be closed. Has anyone else received this kind of letter and what do I do now if anything???

martin has stated he will publish further advice in the third week of January so if you haven't subscribed to the weekly newsletter then I would do so now.

e.g.

My case is on hold with the banks, what is going to happen?
A. They have eight weeks to deal with it and it's likely they'll be swamped. When your case is dealt with, it's likely to be thrown out if your argument was based on the premise of the OFT's original case, that the fees were disproportionate.

How likely is it I will get my money back?
A. Much less likely than prior to the Supreme Court result, but not impossible. The strongest hope is for those who fulfill the Ombudsman's criteria above... still, the best thing to do is plan for getting nothing, but cross your fingers ...
