My parents know and a couple of our close friends know - strictly on a need to know basis!! LOL
My OH seems to have a habit tho of telling people (i.e. people we havent seen for years! which i find embarrassing!)
"oh well business collapsed and we have a lot of debt to show for it but thats life" - AHHHHHHHH why do they need to know that? I dont want to lie and pretend we have done well for ourselves etc - but I dont think he needs to broadcast it to people we havent seen for yonks (specially the ones whose parents have given them lots of money!) very annoying!
Who have you told?

No-one really knows except me. A few mates know a bit but not the whole story and that's the way I like it. My parents would be supportive but I feel that they don't need to know this in the same way they don't need to know about my sister's sexual conquests!!! I would tell them if the situation worsened and I needed to talk through my options...
:heartpuls CG :heartpulsEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
I don't know who knows to be honest. My parents only found out how much we owed when I was dancing around saying we only owe £15,000.Barclaycard 3800

The only person in my family who knows is my cousin, but im sure they suspect, but im going to come clean when its sorted
I just dont think they need the stress, plus i wanted to sort this myself0 -
My OH and my best friend both know the awful truth. (My best friend has the same problem, and we support each other). Other friends have some idea, but don't know how much, and I don't make a 'big deal' about my money saving in front of them, although obviously I'm now always mindful of my spending.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

everyone knows to a certain extent. I owe my folks money so of course they know
no one seems to think it unusual, until i tell them I want to be debt free then they cant get thier head around it :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Everyone that knows me! I'm so open about things and I tell everyone that I have an ISA and am saving up to pay off my debts and recommending to people that they get themselves an ISA but TBH, My debts have never really been a problem or spiralled out of control, more of an annoyance really. I suppose if I was in a worse situation then I wouldn't have told so many people! Was debt free... then went travelling!0

Everyone knows.
We kept getting asked to the pub, cinema, bowling.........if I said 'we can't afford it' the reply would be 'but it's only £X' so I'd say 'I haven't got £X' - 'I'll lend it to you til payday' - 'I can't afford to pay you back' - 'but it's only £X' and so the conversation went on, round and round in circles
My answer now is always 'Do you really think it's a good idea to lend money to someone who's in debt? I'll put you at the bottom of my creditor's list, you'll be paid last of course because it'll be cash and there's no actual proof that I owe you anything. I could choose not to pay you at all and there's nothing you can do about it' :rotfl:Bulletproof0
