'Self-contained'

Hi

My partner and I are looking to rent a property which is a 'flat' inside a house. It has its own shower room, WC, living room, conservatory and garden. What it doesn't have is a kitchen; there is a microwave and fridge in there and I'd have to use the bathroom sink for washing up (or I got told I can use the main house's kitchen's dishwasher). To access the flat, you have to walk through the main house hallway, but it has its own separate lock.

The landlord said he can put a kitchen in there, but it'll take a while. I personally don't see the issue as in emergencies we can use the main house.

Can it still be classed as self-contained? We would need it for housing benefit.
