HELP- My Car Clutch Pedel will not engage.

Hi,
I wonder if someone could help me. I have a major problem.
I was driving home tonight and all of a sudden the clutch pedel stopped working.
I was at the lights and pressed the clutch and put it into FIRST and and then pressed it again and put it into second. Both time i felt there was something not quite right.
Ayway drove a little furted nd cae to another set of lights and i pressed the clutch and put the car into NUTERAL. This pedal pressed in to ok but did NOT return.
So i pushed it up with my foot.
that was it.
It will NOT now press at all and hense i am able to engage the gears whilst driving.
Can anyone help me diagnose the problem and the costs invlved in getting it corrected.
The car is a Citreon C5, 2 litre diesel with over 160K miles on it.

do you mean the pedal does not operate up/down and you cannot put the car into gear,
if so it is the clutch cable that has brokenI

sorry just spoken to the mechie and it is apparently a hydraulic clutch so will be a fairly hefty billI MOJACAR0

Depends what has failed. If it's at the pedal end, it might not be too bad. If it's at the clutch end, it might be more expensive.Fight Crime : Shoot Back.
