Water not draining away

I just had a lovely hot bath, having been out in the snow on a pressie mission, and the water won't drain! I got my trusty plunger out and got a big old clump of hair out, but it's still not shifting!
Could the waste pipe outside be frozen? The sink is draining ok and the loo is emptying fine. I believe they all go the same way. If I have a frozen pipe is there a good way to thaw it without risk of cracking?
I'm going to pop outside and have a rummage, but the snow is coming down quite fast so not sure if I'll be able to see much!

I'd have thought it all goes down the stack. So because the toilet and sink drain fine I'd keep on with the plunger to clear that small leg where the block must be.

Or , get the panel off, remove trap , will be full of soap/hair ( like a dead mouse)
clean and refit, have another hot bath , job done.

Well I just went and had a peek (I'm ground floor) the bath has it's own waste pipe. I don't think it's a blockage inside as the water has been flowing out very quickly recently. Normally if it slows a bit I get my marigolds on and give the trap a clean out. (Not my fave job in the world!)
Unfortunately I have to go out to my manager's birthday do soon. So I guess it's wash hair over the sink and have another go later :-(

Put the plug back in the hole first!

We have the same problem with the kitchen waste pipe. It had been draining okay earlier but suddenly yesterday, the water has stopped draining.

Bathroom is fine thankfully. Pipes inside the house are fine. The kitchen waste pipe goes outside the property. Neighbours pipes are all fine.

Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

Someone at work mentioned putting a mixture of salt, hot water and anti freeze down the drain. Will buy some antifreeze tomorrow and try it.

Does anyone know if it will be okay for the pipe material.

    Thanks

my DDs kitchen sink waste pipe froze yesterday. there was a dip in the pipe, where water could collect. (it was -17 c).
i used a heat gun to free it off.

  • Our shower outlet pipe has blocked tooo - presumably frozen in its 6ft run along the side of the outside of the house - too high to reach with hairdryer so presume baths only until the thaw!1

I got in to work today to find that our water outlets were not draining ( and I need water for my work ) LUCKILY for me I had read this forum over the last few days and advice from Ormus was ringing in my ears....cue 2 extension leads, convector heater and hairdryer in back yard.
    Sorted!
    Thanks Guys!

Thanks everyone for replyng. We don't have a dip in the pipe so not sure where should I use the hair dryer. Probably the whole length of the pipe

How much time did it take?

    Thanks
