can you get a prem rate house phone?

Hi

Im sick to the back teeth of people calling my oh for pc advise sometimes he is on the phone for hours to family, friends, friends of friends, and the list goes on...

I really want him to get paid for this time. can you set up a prem rate number in your house so he gets paid for his time?

Many thanks

  • What makes you think that the people calling will call the premium rate number instead of the one they already have :)

This is a bit of a chicken and egg situation. If you offer help, people will ask for it. If you don't generally help them then they stop doing it. Your OH is too kind :)

I'd suggest that he offers to spend the time for them, but charges his time at, say, £65 per hour. That will put a stop to most of it. Or, fob people off by telling them to take the thing to PC World. Both of those are probably more straightforward.
  • I would say if they want help they need to call that number or go to pc world. lol

He is to bloody kind... But im not:rotfl:

You can have a premium rate no and have it diverted to your house phone. But you won't know which number people dialled. And it will only take one bright spark to enter your premium number into "say not to 0870" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You may find you get less calls (if any) if you do set one up though.

BT Employee mentioning expensive BT Products.

As David says their are plenty of of suppliers including those who offer no connection charge,no rental, and no fee for the called party, just google.

If you use an 0871 number you will need to follow the Phonepay plus Code of Practice and register as a Service Provider.
