hello - am hoping someone can help me.
first of all, please dont laugh if i come across ignorant about home/diy matters as I have just bought a new house and have never done these sort of things before!
my little problem is my heating. it seems to me that at night/late evening time, no matter what i do, my heating doesnt turn on. for example, i have the timer set to 'always on' and the thermostat to read 30 degrees. normally, the heating turns on when room temp goes below 30 - but this doesnt seem to work at night time.
am i being really stupid here and missing something?

I can only assume that the 30 degrees you refer to is Fahrenheit. Surely no one would have a thermostat set to 30 centigrade. Assuming that it is Fahrenheit then it sounds as if what you have is a frost stat, and there should be another stat to set the room temperature. Where is this stat that you mentioned situated, if it is a frost stat, then it is likely to be near the boiler.
If the heating does not come on at certain times then either the timer is faulty and the "always on" indicator is obviously wrong, or there is another timer somewhere else that you don't know about. If you could post some pictures of what controls you can find, I am sure that several of our more CH savvy members will be able to help you.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
