Should I buy new PC to replace sluggish Dell?

Hello my machine seems sluggish, i've reinstalled windows, defrag ext and its the same.

I have seen an offer in ALDI and was wondering weather to buy.

Is the Aldi spec any better than my current one, would i gain a lot or hardly anything.

You don't have a hope of getting that 'special buy' Medion - they all sold out within minutes of the Aldi stores opening on the day they were first available!

Unless you're very lucky the Aldi offer will be sold out now. People queue up at opening time for them and they normally sell out in minutes as each store only has a few in.

Your Dell should be fine. What OS is it running? When you re-installed did you do a clean install using a Windows disc or did it have a recovery partition on it?

In what sense is it sluggish? Where is it most noticable?

Looks like i'm stuck with my Dell then .

I use the PC for picture edditing, internet & Office. I tend to wait a few seconds before applications open.

It was a Ghost image that I restored and i'm running XP Pro.

Was it a ghost image with all the rubbish that most manufacturers seem to put on new PC's?

What Anti Virus are you using ?

No it's the basic requirements, using Avast AVirus.
I do have Roxio 10 which I may remove as that tends to hang.

It should be fine with XP if there's no rubish on it. Do you know what model of PU it is?

To make it faster you'll have to start from scratch and format and install xp. It'll take about a day to update and reinstall programs.
I do it at least once a year with my Dell Dimension.
Have you still got your hidden partition to take it back to factory settings?

Have you run your virus scanner recently or even something like Malwarebyte? and how much Harddrive space do you have on your C drive?

no its cheap, I know of many that end up going back for repair to Germany. My sisters packed up as the harddrive just failed, and thats in 3 months. Alot of my computer is bricked need help here are Medions that includes the laptops too.
