Barclaycard DD problems

My barclaycard DD has been fine for the last year since I started it however last month I received a statement saying no payment had been made and I was to be charged a late fee. I queried this and was simply told to contact my bank, who happen to be Barclays. I gave up after sending so long on hold and just set up a new DD with barclaycard and received confirmation through the post days later. This month I receive a text message saying due to non payment the account is frozen so it looks like the DD has failed again but I cannot understand why as there is money there to be taken out. Has anyone else had similar problems?
