Have they changed the Sun holiday upgrades?

On previous Sun holidays(we did not go last year) I have paid for the break and then contacted the park on receiving the confirmation paperwork and upgraded direct with the park to what was then the Gold caravans(now I believe they're Prestige).

The upgrade offered in this years Sun paperwork does not appear to be of the same standard with no mention of the standard early check in and most importantly no mention of the full heating throughout the caravan.

Is the standard upgrade the only one available now?

Thanks for any help

Hi, you will still receive offers of upgrades from the parks direct as normal - (something similar happened last year (this was just with Haven parks) where you could book a break for a certain period and you were given an upgrade). Personally I am going to just go with the £9.50 break and see what transpires. I upgrade if the booking is outside the May-Sept period but otherwise take pot luck. Last year we had a brand spanking new caravan at Hopton in May and it was lovely whereas a friend upgraded and wished they hadn't.

Quite surprised that the Haven "platinum" caravans are no longer guarantee domestic style central heating (only the exclusive ones are on their website). IMO there is a big difference between electric blow/panel heaters and radiators..!

Thanks very much for that info, I will just book for the standard for now then as usual.

I guess we can only go off our own experiences but on our first Sun holiday some years ago we had the standard caravan and vowed never ever to stay in one again. We tried to upgrade on site but there were no better ones available at the time, the caravan was freezing cold and we ended up cutting the break short and going home.

Since then we have always upgraded prior to arrival and apart from the odd hiccup(which was quickly rectified once I complained) have always had fantastic brand new caravans.

i know what you mean, I tend to stick to the Norfolk/Suffolk parks for weekend breaks which are all within about 40 mins drive for us. The caravans at seashore are normally great but hopton can be hit and miss.

I am sure you always do but just in case if you are booking term time rather than school holidays do check the parks website first. Sometimes that can work out cheaper that the sun's deal once you add all the extra's/upgrade on.
