This is true of Florida as well, (not sure about the rest of the states), most of the libraries will let you use a PC for 30 minutes. There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0

Libraries also stock back dated Which? magazines with an index so you can find the information you want easily. That's a thought, I could've checked on slow cookers before I bought one.0

Love and appreciate your local library. Our local one is under threat of closure
The powers yhat be want the big sparkly new central one, to be the only one in the area. They also say that our local one is under performing. My problem is that here, at home I can let the kids go to the library on their own. If it closes this will mean an 8 mile round trip to go and get books, never mind having to start and pay for parking. There are a few meetings coming up, but who knows what will happen.

That is awful! We have a library just across the road but it is only open for a few hours each day and is getting less used because of awkward opening times etc which is a real shame.:0"This site is addictive!"

Oh, bless, Mablethorpe, I used to live just up the road. The last time I visited was to go to Fantasy
Island, and I screamed so much on the "Chair of Death" that I would be embarrassed to go back............0 -
I LOVE my local library. I order in all the latest books I want to read for 80p without having to buy them (already have far too many books at home), have access to the internet, borrow audio books for my daughter to listen to in bed, borrow CDs to listen to, borrow videos and DVDs for a week, find out about evening classes and other local events, it's a great place to kill half an hour if I need to, I can park there for free and walk into town, and they do a kid's reading half hour on Fridays. They often sell off old books, videos, tapes etc for bargain prices (fill a carrier bag for a £1 - can get loads of book then) and the staff are lovely. I've also discovered that you can order in videos and CDs from other libraries and best of all - I can reserve titles online and they send me notification in the post (no I don't work there!)0

In addition to all the other benefits already mentioned, my library has a big magazine swap box near the door.0

And if you're in London and a member of ANY borough library that entitles you to join any other. Just take along your home library card and proof of address. Really increases chances of finding what you want.
http://www.londonlibraries.org/servlets/home has information on all London Libraries and links to What's in London Libraries (http://www.londonlibraries.org.uk/will/LibSearch.aspx) which allows you to search for books across all public lending libraries in London.0 -
As well as internet access at our libraries ( I have a choice of 4
) our local swimming pool also has free internet access.
When the boys go swimming, I go surfing
Libraries also do an international lending system - if you ask for a book and your local library doesn't stock it, they will do a search for *any* library which stocks it. I borrowed a book which could only be found in a US library. It cost me a few pence to order it and that was for them to send me a 2nd class note telling me when it had arrived.
I lurve my library(And I could spit nails at the tikes who burned down the one in the neighbouring town last year! )
