Asbestos question

I knocked down an old shed in the back garden yesterday and am pretty sure the roof is some kind of asbestos.
I know I can't just throw it into the skip with all the other rubbish but what do I do with it?
Will the council dipose of it if I take it down to the local tip or do I have to call a specialist in and pay a load of money?

You should be able to take it to your local council tip where they'll have a place to dump it.

Most local council tips don't take them, that would be dangerous. Also our tip has a big notice saying it fines people.

Give your council a call, our council sent us a permit and then we had to wrap up the asbestos and seal it in a bag and take it to a specified site where it goes in a big container.

The material used in flat and corrugated sheets was normally made with asbestos cement and are relatively harmless.

Our local tip/ recycle center will take them but want them to double bagged.

Check with your council would be the best bet.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
