Booking from Lastminute.com -when things go wrong!

Does anyone have any particularly good/bad experiences dealing with Lastminute.com? *aplogies hosts if this is in the wrong section*

I made my first purchase about a week and a half ago (1st aniversary present for my lovely OH- I just couldn't resist!http://www.lastminute.com/lmn/shopping/GiftsAvailability.jhtml?CATID=92821&PRODID=318736501 Especially as it was 2 for 1 a few weeks ago) But I've had nothing through the post since.
Their help pages, and 'purchase history' screen are distinctly unhelpful, and after two eloquently written emails of complaint, was finally given an 0870 contact number, although this is permanently not answered/ i'm in queue!

I feel such a mug :o I can't afford to waste that sort of money. I 'just assumed' Lastminute.com is a fairly reputable company, they've been around for yonks, and have never heard much bad press about them. So why are they so hard to get in touch with when there's a glitch!?

My daughter used lastminute.com to book accomodation in London for a short break, but the hotel had been overbooked and they were directed to an alternative, which turned out to be dirty and freezing cold. The room was not cleaned from the previous occupants, but as it was almost midnight and my 8 year old granddaughter was in tears at this point, they hadn't much choice but to stay.
When she got home she emailed Lastminute, who after 8 weeks and 3-4 reminders, refunded the money she had paid. Some consolation, but didn't really make up for the inconvenience.

    Hi,

As it says the experience is in Milton Keynes, I assume it is with AirKix.

Why not try contacting them directly to see if they have your booking.

Thanks for your replies folks- Just an update:

I got my experience voucher through the post on Sat! (yesterday) It was a relief I can tell you!! 2 weeks to the day from booking. I wouldn't exactly agree with the compulsary £4 charged for 'first class delivery' of a voucher+ terms&conditions that could be printed off online after payment, but there you go. The real problem was getting a personalised, relevant reply to my email from the lastminute team, when their 0870 no leaves you on hold all the time.

I was gonna leave it until Monday to contact Airkix (Cheers Sarah, that was a big help knowing I had another potential point of contact to vent to) as have been busy with work this latter part of the week, but that's irrelevant now. However, I still have to phone through to the 0870 no. to book a suitable date for the experience....argh!!

All in all, good range of unusual gift experiences to be bought from the site, but the level of customer service from lastminute.com (when things go wrong) is frustratingly pants!
