Anyone recommend a good value quiet usb keyboard

I bought a cheap one to go with my laptop when using it a lot, but it is clicky as you type, and as an ex typist I type quite fast and drive DH mad. Anyone know if this is quiet, and typist friendly? I don't need wirless in this application.

No idea but bear in mind it's got a laptop layout so is quite cramped, it's OK if you're used to it but I prefer a proper keyboard for typing.

I've just bought this and am happy with it but it couldn't be described as quiet.

Thanks Bill, didn't spot it was a laptop layout, that is what I am trying to get away from. Suppose I willhave to brave PC hell to have a feel and listen to them, then look on line, but the roads are against me, and I need it by next Thursday:eek::eek:

OH loves her Apple keyboard used with a Win PC - cute, white & aluminium with tiny low profile form factor. Keys have great action and are quiet, but if used on a large wooden desk it can 'drum'. Also it frees up valuable desk space.

It works out of the box with Win Xp but the catch is, not all keys work as expected or are available so we have to run some key mapping software alongside it.

Cherry make decent keybards and it claims to be quiet.

Wow! Bill that brings back memories of first PC's when a Cherry keyboard was the be all and end all.

Surely as a non-male person it would be compulsory for you to get one of these...? :rotfl:

Seriously, Argos has some Microsoft ones, which are usually fairly OK - but watch the layout of the Insert/Delete/Home/End/Page Up/Page Down keys. You may be used to two rows by three columns (hooray!) rather than three rows by two columns (boo)!

Here's one which I like the look of, and it has the correct layout, too...

Thanks for the smiles guys, I am certainly not "girly" enough for a pink keyboard, and my google queries revealed the soft ones are not typist friendly. I have bit the bullet and ordered the Cherry keyboard, fingers crosssed for delivery in time.
