A good thread, all the information you need to sort the problem.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • I am a gas safe engineer and i have never come across a cdi that is open flued, thus dont need vents for combustion. They do exist though http://www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/homeowner/products/gas-boilers/24cdi-of-discontinued-march-2005
You need to follow the instuctions if it says your boiler needs a vent then it does! You can buy draft covers for the vent or even swap it for the black hole type http://www.castironfires.com/black-hole-vents.html hope this helps

Just check that the manufacturers instructions are for your particular model.
  • Hi,
We have Wocester-Bosch 24cdi combi boiler fitted in the kitchen, the combi was in the house when we bought the house. There is a permanent air vent to outside air and I am being told that this is to provide ventillation for the combi.
The problem we now face is that there is a constant draft and the kitchen can get very cold especially when one is not doing any cooking.
Is there any way I can prevent the draft and at the same time provide ventilation to the boiler ?
Many thanks for looking at the post. Looking forward to your advise.

Just an idea here. Why not get a registered gas engineer out to check what vents etc you need since you obviously have no idea and a mistake may well prove fatal. NO ONE here can give you sound advice because they are assuming things they cannot see. You can of course ignore this and take a risk.
