Any Amsterdam Hotel Recommends??

Hi there
Going to Amsterdam in March 2007 (yes I know it is a long way away but I booked my flights with Flybe far in advance to get them cheaper!!)
Can anyone recommend a 3star plus hotel in central Amsterdam for one night only? I don't want a fleapit or one of those that are "rented by the hour...", I do want a fairly decent 3 or 4 star hotel for me and my OH.
We will not be hiring a car so public transport access is essential.
Thank you for your time in advance!

we love love love, the JOLLY CARLTON, just next to the floating flower market, or nicer still is the die port van cleve just out the back of the royal palace on Dam square. We're going to stop in the Botel next week, I understand its 3star,reviews read ok, and its the cheapest/most local for the time of year. Have a look- Amstel Botel.
Good luck, and enjoy!!RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

We once stayed at the 4* Park Hotel pretty cheaply as we booked it last minute. The public transport is excellent in Amsterdam, in fact having a car there would be an absolute nightmare! Trams and cyclists rule!we have love enough to light the streets.0

I'd personally recoment the Hotel Heemskirk

doesnt look much from the outside but has great rooms, some with spa bath & balcony overlooking pretty circular gardens.
Huge beds and a really freindly welcome.
Have a great time & if you have a moment pop into Rookies coffeeshop for a quality beer & a game of pool - dont forget to look out for the spoof poster (Socks on C***s - Red Hot Chilli Peppers) of the staff heh heh

and tell them Sarah & Derek say HI

I'd recommend doing a search on https://www.venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too. Plus for 4% off, use code: BK5HX8W
Hope that helps0 -

We've been looking recently and Expedia seem to have the best value deals. Also Superbreak pretty good and include breakfast in price.0
