can anyone help us out on this one?
we need to put up three roller blinds on an 8ft window but are having great difficulty. So far we've cracked the double glazed window as silly man didnt check size of frame and drilled straight through frame into glass! So drilling into the frame is no longer an option. Do we need a special drill bit for drilling into concrete or metal enforced lintel or is it just impossible?

hss drill bit, for metal. Masonary drill bit for concrete.
I would assume that you will have plaster then a metal lintel. In that case just use the hss bit. And dont use hammer action or you'll crack the surrounding plaster.0 -
In a past house, built 1947, I found it impossible to drill into a concrete lintel. In my current house, the walls are dry lined, and there is a piece of wood mounted in front of the steel lintel for fixing curtains to. I'm not sure if all builders do this though.0

I got concrete lintels, I use a hammer drill with a new drill and plenty of swearing which seems to do the trick, make sure you wear goggles.Nothing to see here, move along.0

I had problems with a concret lintel. Normal hammer drill wouldn't touch it. Borrowed what I think was called a percussion drill from a neighbour. Looked the same as a hammer drill but went into the lintel very easily.0

In the end I had to drill a bit of timber on to the wall and fix the blind to that!0
