I've just got an Acer notebook but, for the life of me, cannot remember how I got it connected to our home wifi - and it was only a couple of days ago! I do remember that it was painless - it found two networks (ours and the neighbours), I selected ours, typed in the network key and that was that.

Tigs, at home I just turn mine on and select either the mail program or internet explorer and it automatically connects. On holiday, it generally tells me its found a new connection, do I want it. On this big Acer, there is a connect link on the Start menu but that's Vista. Have just checked the netbook (XP like yours) and its under Control Panel, Network Connections.

If this helps, its a funny way round. Usually I'm the one in need of help.
  • yes just enter the wep key or WPA pass code and your rocking..

asumeing wireless is enabled on both the router and netbook.

Yes - once it is set up for one wireless connection, it should be capable of working on any (if you put the correct security key in, if required).

Once you connect to a particular wireless, it shoud re-connect next time you can 'see' that wireless connection.
