Suggestions for Romantic hotel in York

Hello
I am wanting to book 2 nights (maybe 3) away in York to celebrate our 10th anniversary.
I would appreciate any suggestions of nice hotels, would be really good if they have 4 poster beds! (although not essential)

  • I stayed in one right next to the station and it was gorgeous my room was like a suite but I saw a suite there and it was gorgeous!!!
No noise from the station, walking distance to town, pool and leisure facilities etc, sorry can't remember name but there was only one next to the station!!!

Wish I had someone to book me a romantic trip away !!!

    Have a fab time tho............

Middlethorpe Hall Hotel and Spa is not far from York, I believe, but I've not stayed there, give me a mo and I'll find a link

    Edit: Here's the link

Apparently its 1½ miles from the centre of York

Please please please under no circumstances think of booking Griffon Forest which is a park of around 20 log cabins just to the south of York - we stayed there a few years ago and it was dismal, filthy (just thought I'd better post in case someone suggested it)

York is one of the best places in England.
Go to the Museum, Go on the Yorkboat

Dont under any circumstances go to the Jorvik Centre.

    Enjoy..................
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

The Dean Court http://www.deancourt-york.co.uk/ is in a great position right next to the Minster the rooms are very nice and the breakfast is fab.

I was trying to remember this one. Lovely hotel in a great location!
  • Agree about the Royal York, the Grange, Dean Court and Middlethorpe Hall.

Wherever you stay enjoy it, it's a beautiful city with loads to do - you can walk the walls (if they're not still frozen over), the Shambles has some fantastic shops, lots of nice small restaurants (Melton's Too on Walmgate is not massively expensive and does lovely food), and there are some great pubs especially the York Brewery ones and Brigantes on Micklegate (though avoid the latter if you're going midweek as Micklegate will be student central!).

  • Anyone been to Guy Fawkes Inn or Lion & Lamb Inn?
