Clearing a card

in Credit cards
Hi.. newbie here, so apologies if this has been covered.
Not that cards get cleared very often !! But. Last times I have done so. Paying the full balance indicated on the statement, before the date on the statement.
Surely this is the balance cleared ? The last few times Ive cleared my card, the following month, there have been further monies owed according to the lender.
This has happened myself and friends, and when we try to argue with the lender, as they control your credit rating, its a no win situation and you have to pay.
Surely if the balance is paid in full, as indicated on the statement. Thats it, end of story ??
Thanks

this is called trailing interest... to have a zero balance you need to pay 2 statement balances in full on time for 2 consecutive months and not use the card(if any cash trans)0
