you got to convert the music on the cd to mp3 files first if it's a store bought music cd.
  • You need to use something like windows media player to rip the music from the CD to MP3 format. You should then be able ot drag and drop the MP3 files onto your MP3 player.

I'm afraid you can't just copy and paste with a CD. The tracks on a CD are in the wrong format. (You can play it on the computer, but not copy that way.)

To copy it onto your computer, you need to "rip" the tracks. The easiest program to use for that is Windows Media Player:

    1. Put the CD in your computer's drawer.
    2. Open Windows Media Player from the Start menu.
    3. At the top, there is a Rip tab. Click on that. You will see the CD tracks in a list. Put a tick next to the ones you want to copy.
    4. Click on Start Rip at the bottom of the screen. The computer will slowly copy the tracks chosen.
    5. When it has finished, go to My Music (in My Documents). The songs will be in a new folder named after the singer or album. They should be in the right format to copy to your MP3 player now. (You should be able to drag and drop them.) :T

You have an older version of the software but no problem, you are nearly there, all you need to do now is click the red button 'Copy Music'.
