Converting excel from vista to xp

Hi. I downloaded a converter at work ages ago and now need one on my home pc but there are so many sites and I can't seem to find the official microsoft one, which is what I think I used before. Can anyone please point me to a safe converter to download. Thank you

do you mean microsoft excel, if so I don't understand why you would want a converter just open the file in microsoft excel or use openoffice, there is no diffrence between using in vista or xp, or have I completely lost the plot here?

I think they mean from Excel 2007 to an earlier version. You need the Office 2007 Compatibility pack.

I run XP on my pc and if someone sends me an excel file created with vista (well I think it's vista that adds the .xlsx extension) it says asks if I want to find a programme to open it online. I'm sure this is what happened at work when some of our pcs were upgraded and some not and the older ones needed a converter downloaded. Sorry if I've got the reasons wrong :o

Nothing to do with XP or Vista. In Excel 2007 it saves files as XLSX format, older versions use XLS.

you need to do what joeypesci suggested. or get the sender to save it in a format you can read, i.e. XLS.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
