  • Just sheer bloody minded bad manners! They don't like me becuse I've had the nerve to take their precious son away from them. They've even accused me before of trying to stop them from seeing SD, even though she doesn't live with us!

I wouldn't anyway! I'm really not that king of person. Just annoys me that every so often DH's family will want to assert the "We are more important than you to SD" thing!

It's hurtful! And, what they don't realise is that SD loves both me and her dad, and gets totally fed up with them, as they are really overbearing with her, asking her questions all the time, and making comments about us.

  • Sorry, just gets me down sometimes!
And we don't make comments about them , because we know that she doesn't need to hear it!

Children are wiser than some people give them credit for. She will undoubtedly one day speak her mind and be able to put them in their place.

I think some people are so very insensitive to family members because they know they can get away with it. Your in laws probably know you won't fight back and they take advantage of the fact that you would rather keep the peace.

Have a good scream and try to forget about their behavoiur. You sound like you are level headed, let them get on with it. If they don't see you getting wound up then they might back off.

  • Thanks for that, just needed a bit of a moan! I know you're right, just need to hear it every now and then!

It's difficult for them to be pleasant because they don't know any better ;)
