There you are! Was wondering how you were getting on.
Taking lunch to work is a great way to save money. I take lunch 4 days out of 5 (soup (tinned or HM), sandwiches, salads, wraps, beans on toast, hummous on toast, tins of ravioli etc... - we have a microwave and toaster at our disposal!).
I like a treat for lunch aswell so a couple of years ago I resolved to spend just £3 per week on a lunch. A few months ago I cut this down to £2 per week - locally I can get a jacket potato with 2 fillings for £2 or sub-of-the-day from Subway £1.99 or M&S do a good range of sandwiches for under £2 or choose one of their £1.99 microwave pasta meals - just some ideas for you...
Just one word about the scales and the cookbooks - its great to have a treat and as you say you have got some extra money this month - but it might be prudent in the future to wait until the end of the month and see how much money you have got left before treating yourself - this will achieve two things: 1. You will try that bit harder to cut down on your spending so you can afford the treat. and 2. You won't overspend on treats if you haven't got enough left!
Hope this helps and keep checking those extra spends!
