Talk Talk - contract woes & overcharging

Can i now join the list of Talk Talk unhappy customers...!
After many years of being with TT i am now really fed up of their terrible service.
On Dec 2008 was offered a rolling contract on TT Internaltion with BB with a £5 discount. As i am not the family member who manages this account online, when we checked today realised that No £5 discount has ever been applied to our account.
Plus were getting charged £2.50 pm for caller display - sure this was free before.
Q: why am i a unhappy TT customer?
A: spent last hour trying to speak to customer services, 1 time the lady hung up during the call as she could not help. other time chap was trying to transfer me to options dept. other times the phone keeps diverting thro the long telephone managment system. plus the man said i signe dup to a 18mth contract as there is no other way i could be a customer - i have no record of this, and i am 100% sure i agreed to no contract as ideally would like to move to sky or BT.

I agree. I'm looking for an alternative after spending over 3 hours this weekend trying to get any sense out of Talk Talk customer services. As soon as you ask a question they cut you off.

Yes that happened to me seevral times, as soon as i ask a question about my bill they try to defend it and then i ask for proof or how they decided the answer and result cut off!!
Luckily i tried again (after already many long calls) and a kind gentleman agreed not to cut me off. I was on the phone for an hour with him whilst he checked out all my previous bills and contract.
Only thing i was not happy he said i was on a 18mth contract even though i did agree to that a year ago, but this expires in the summer.
He put me thro to his friend in options team and they have now put me thro on the TT Pro package for £26.48 with a £5 discount for 6mths and a free N type router. Although he said contract is still the same i.e. expires in the summer, i expect they might try to pull a fast one with a new 18mth contract.
But if the chap has kept his word i think we sorted out now but that was after a few hours agony on the phone.
I will check out the TT forum as well.
I really want to change to sky Talk, but apparently TT customers with broadband cant change easily:(0 -
mutley - why can't they change easily? Am just asking as I am thinking of leaving TT.0

i you mean change from TT to Sky broadban its something do to with how the technical side is set up at the exchange call "bundling". You can check this on Sky website to see if your number can be accepted by them or give them a call. Or why not try calling TT and aksing for a discount if you stay longer?0 -
Thanks - I am in a similar position to you but I am definately 'bundled' to TT. I thought I read somehwere on here that you had to go back to BT before you could go to Sky.0

Thats what i was told by Sky last year. Other choice if i am correct is you can cancel your broadband only with TT, then switch to sky and apply for new BB. But if you like me cant go with bb for more than a few days does not seem a feasible option.
If i was you call TT and ask for retentions dept and ask tell them you have seen good offers with sky and BT and see what they can offer you.
With the Pro package caller display is free, we had been paying £2.50pm under the TT International package! but at least now we get a faster (or they claim) broadband speed than before.0 -
OK -I was thinking of going back to BT, for a while, but they can't seem to give me a good enough offer so I will look around. I am still on Talk 3, phone & BB for £20.48. My 18 month term ended but I refused to sign up for another term but who knows! Hope you get a good deal in the end.0

are you sure you not signed up to another 18mth deal without knowing? thats what i had thought and made it clear a year ago, but when i phone them other day to complain they said all customers must be on a contract as they dont allow monthly contracts (someone correct me if i am wrong).0 -
Sorry - that's what I meant when I said who knows! You can't be sure until you try to leave.0
