...ok, its minus 7 outside, overdrawn again, no payrise, corrupt politicians, and there are still bigotted 1980's style opinions of race/sexual orientation/religion that are getting you down?
In the evenings I have been knitting for Northern Ireland because its been so darned cold and I have built up a little stash of goodies to sell at a friends cafe in Brighton. I am very proud of myself, AND when I knit I cant eat, so am hoping to lose a few pounds of the weight variety rather than coin variety.
YOUR TURN
......
Lets say something positive and constructive to buck us all up, and it has to be MONEYSAVING related!!
I'll start:In the evenings I have been knitting for Northern Ireland because its been so darned cold and I have built up a little stash of goodies to sell at a friends cafe in Brighton. I am very proud of myself, AND when I knit I cant eat, so am hoping to lose a few pounds of the weight variety rather than coin variety.
YOUR TURN

Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T

Having bought my first home about 3 months ago, I am learning all sorts of DIY skills from wallpapering to plumbing, to shelving and soon to be installing my alarm system! The benefit of this is three fold. Firstly it reduces the nagging that the fiancee gives me, secondly will reduce the need to call out an expert in something as i'll have a bash at it myself and thirdly it's good fun!Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

I possibly saved the nhs a couple of hundred quid today........
There is a footpath beside my house and a lot of elderly people use it....as do some kids:D
I gritted it today:T.......I have never even thought about gritting the path before until a wee old dear walking her dog nearly broke her hip yesterday, she came into me and after she had warmed up a little and dried her clothes she aked if there was a man about the place I live to grit the path......all kids are away to school....so i filled a mop bucket full of grit from one of the yellow boxes on the edge of the estate and threw it all over the path.....:jIm going to be frugal:j:DIm going to be frugal:D;)Im going to be frugal;)Beetlejuice Beetlejuice...................:rotfl:0 -

I found Donnac's lost 7lbs!
Have decided the dining room needs a re-furb.
Instead of changing the carpet (1970's but pure wool) and ripping out the fireplace, we are doing a DIY paint job and I shall make new curtains.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -

nice thread thank you
Since the kids have gone back to school i have been doing lots of batch cooking using every inch of oven space to economise.....i love MSE old style board and it saves us loads of money and nothing puts a smile on my familys faces than comming in from the cold to the smell of a fresh batch of 'twinks hobnobs' (i urge everyone to try them at least once....search OS board for recipe or ask me!!) so so so cheap to make and perfect for lunch boxes!
Nearly had myself a kenwood mixer of freecycle too but lost out to someone else probably more deserving than me ho hum nevermind something better might be round the corner (literally.....suggesting neighbours have a clear out and pass on any unwanted items to me to freecycle for them:D)
