I've just sent off for some Sage trial discs, they're thinking of using it at work (actually, they're thinking of ME using it at work  ). Do the discs give you a good enough idea of the full version? I'd like to have some sort of idea of what I'm doing when/if they buy it.

Thanks

They are full programs, except the accounts expires after 30days and the payroll after 50 uses (if i remember correctly from 2 years ago). Then you have to register, pay and obtain the passwords.

  • You may find that Quickbooks is a little easier to use. Unless you are really experienced in accounting terminology, Sage can be a bit daunting, wereas Quickbooks assumes no understanding and has on screen tutorials.

I have used both (Sageline 50 and Quickbooks) and I prefer the latter.

They use a self-employed book-keeper at the moment and she does everything on Sage but eventually they want one person doing everything and that person is me :D so it looks as though they'll want to carry on with Sage. They have invoices, quotes etc. on Excel, I've said I love Excel and can write formulas for anything they want (I did the wages on there as an example of how it can all work) but they're not convinced.

I'm quick at learning new stuff on computers (not bragging here - I'm not that good at much else lol) so it'll probably be ok, I'll mention Quickbooks to them though, thanks :)

  • Plus I think you will find it's cheaper too! That may convince them ....
