I have just found out from another thread below that Virgin cards are actually MBNA.
I was planning to apply for one
I already have an MBNA card which I applied for directly - £10K limit £8K balance at 0% until July
I also have an A&L card which was recently taken over by MBNA - £6K limit £5K balance at 0% until July
Is it worth my while even bothering to apply for a virgin card?
The reason I'm applying for another card is for the 0% transfer - if i can get 16 months then I should be able to all my cards except RBS* within 18 months (I don't spend on cards any more)
*RBS card which has a lifetime fee of 3.94% so no point getting rid of that yet as it's lower than the mortgage

I'd guess not while you still owe them £8k. But the truth is that only MBNA know for sure.
Personally, I'd avoid them until your current 0% card is cleared in July - even if it means moving the balance to another card provider in order to clear it. Then apply for one in July once the balance is cleared - (they're bound to have an offer on in July, they've always got an offer on:)). Be sure and make the second application over the phone so you can speak to someone who can confirm that your MBNA balance is now cleared. If you apply online it can take another 2 months before the nil balance on the MBNA card is visible, so do it over the phone. Assuming your application is successful, move the credit limit from your MBNA card across to the Virgin card and use the full credit limit now all on the Virgin card to get another 16 months to help you clear your cards."A child of five could understand this. I've just applied for the Virgin card. It's a terribly designed web page, pages not loading, etc. I was accepted, but the redirect didn't work, and when I went back it took me to the submit page again, so who knows if it'll actually make its way to me or not.
But in response to your question, you cannot do a balance transfer from another MBNA account. The application takes you through balance tranfers, and it is stated there.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.. There are some other 0% deals at the moment, but for existing customers of NatWest and a few others.Swagbucks Amazon gift vouchers 2014 125/250

You cannot do the balance transfer from another MBNA account, however you can do a transfer to your current account (for 4% fee) which is also 0% for 16 months - you then use the money in your current account to pay off the MBNA cards - only downside is that the fee for doing it is an extra 1%.0

So you reckon they would still give me a card...
 I think I'll apply then

We didn't realise until recently that Virgin cards were MBNA...
My wife had a Virgin card and was looking to switch to MBNA as her 0% period was running out. Whilst they said we could have the card, they said that as we already held an MBNA card (Virgin), we could not have the 0% offer. They did offer a lower 'special' rate though...
 We didn't bother.

PS... just because the Pedant in me won't rest... no, you're not entitled to a Virgin card (or any other)... you're entitled to apply, but being granted one is a privilege! :D My wife is a DFW... I guess that means I'm along for the ride! :j :D My wife is a DFW... I guess that means I'm along for the ride! :j

 Nope
But let us know how you get on, be good to hear what sort of limit they give."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0

With an £8k balance on one of MBNA's credit cards and £5k owing on another of the bank's cards, I very much doubt it.**Upsy_Daisy** wrote: »So you reckon they would still give me a card ...
Why not play safe and plump for another provider entirely? There's no shortage of 0% BT cards at the mo
To help you further, we would need to know which cards - apart from A&L, MBNA & RBS obviously - you have at the mo or have held recently, also who you bank with.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0

 OK - here goes
Egg - credit limit £13,500 closed Sept 2009
 Next - credit limit £2,500 - closed January 2010
Halifax - Credit limit £9,000 closed July 2009
 Current
John Lewis Partnership (20 years) - credit limit £9500 o/s balance £250 (I don't think they do BT, never had an offer from them
Marks and Spencer (4 years) Credit limit around £9K currently owe £3000 at 0% til April then 18.9
Barclaycard (18 years) Credit limt around £5K Currently owe £2300 at 0% til April 10 then 2.9%
 A & L (MBNA) (2 years) £6500 limit £5000 at 0% til July 10
MBNA (10 years ish) £9,500 limit £8700 ish owing at 0% til July 10 then 15.9%
 Nationwide (4 years) limit £3500 owe £1500 at 16.9%
 I also bank with Nationwide
If I decide not to go for any cards then which order would you suggest I clear them in order to max my chances of transfers inbetween what I alread have at 0%
I have to get a card completely to zero before transferrring anything else onto it obviously because of apportionment of payments.
I have about £500 per month to pay off cards over and above minimum payments
 I bet you wished you'd never asked:o:o
