Windows 7 and Vista rely on LLTD (Link Layer Topology Discovery) to create the Network Map.What services are needed in Windows 7 to network? Btw i tried to see a full map of devices connected to the router but it says windows cannot create a network map.
LLTD was supposed to be included in XP SP3 but the fact Microsoft supply a Hotfix for SP3 suggests otherwise and hence XP computers often don't show up when viewing the Network Map from W7 or Vista.
LLTD however is not required to network Windows 7 and XP.0
