Carers allowance CS1

Can I ask though, does anyone know specifically the set full carers allowance for 1 child? Also same question for a child aged 11, and then 15?
Just so I'm crystal clear in regard to assessment being incorrect again!
In our case, this is a case from 2004 they are in process of correcting, so see what!!!!!!
Hi bdt1,
Did you manage to get the child carer element sorted on your case?
Mine is a backdated 2003 case they are investigating - but they are saying they only change if asked for a reassessment....I was told it changed automatically....
They even refused to close case when dd 16, out of full time education, CB stopped at 16. Eventually I got my first and only reassessment after 6yrs - my dd was almost 19 and they closed the case!
Thank you0 -
We rang and got carer element stopped when QC reached 16yrs....we are paying full CM assessed...no reduced payments re protected income etc.,.
Simply rang...informed them...also said NRP had just had slight wage increase too...did reasessment....rang on a Wednesday....they rang back next day with new figure....this reduced CM amount payable by £80 approx a mth.
We were not even aware of this being stopped at 16ys...it was pure chance we saw a thread on here a while ago....it does not automatically 'flag' on CSA system....they wait for you to contact them.0 -

Hi skibadee,
So you had your payments reduced from the full rate - over £100 pw - reduced to £80.00pm?
I am PWC with 2 children then, now aged 25 and 11yrs old. When the older one was 11, 14 and then 16 they refused to make any changes to carer element because it stays the same when children have different NRP's.
When case should have been closed full stop they would not advising it closes automatically and now they are backdating for the 2 yr overrun, have offered me £4,000 approx but I want to get the dates/rates correct.
The NRP is in for a big shock soon, just like the one I got 5yrs ago when he left the UK and to pay CSA no more...0 -
We are paying for one child carers element wkly was approx £34....mthly amount of maintenance being paid was approx £390 a month....THIS amount was reduced by approx £80 a mth when carers allowance was stopped.0

Oh sorry, I understand now....
CSA say I never asked for a reassessment throughout the 6yrs of my case and only when they finally give me the first and only re-assessment after all those years.
What about periodic reviews - I know they stopped these back in 2003 but my case had been open 3yrs then....surely I was due one?
Why would I not, when my daughters case should have been closed and the full carer element and family premium assessed to the other NRP...as the CSA never collected 1 penny from her father ever, even when they were deducting from him!!!
Thank you0 -
Hello bdt1
I was wondering if you ever had the CSA sort the 'correct' carer element on your case.
Did they reassess/backdate afterall?
They are apparently investigating mine and said I need to show proof that I asked for a reassessment at that time.
I have very recently had a face to face meeting and the officer told me no the carer element does NOT stop when child is 16 years!
Thank you0 -
I believe it does, but only when the youngest child reaches 16, it makes no difference when the eldest is 16, however this is for payments made from one NRP for more than one qualifying child.
If there are two children with two payments schedules from two NRP's I am not sure how that would work and whether that would be different, but I would imagine as far as the NRP's liability is concerned if his child is 16 then the carer's allowance relating to that child should end. If there is another child who is not his, and he has no liability for that child the continued carer's allowance for that child should not affect his assessment.0 -
Thank you 13Kent for your opinion, it seems not to many people know about the carer element and two NRP's - not even the CSA!
The CSA advised by letter that 'It would not have been to my benefit (PWC) to ask for the 16yr old carer element to be stopped!
I replied that it most definitely would...'The wrong NRP would not continue to be wrongfully charged for his grown up child and the correct NRP would quite rightly be charged the 'full' amount for the little 3 year old!
I was then offered a face to face interview and was told 'The carer element does NOT stop at all when child becomes 16yrs!!
 and took offence when I told her that was not the correct legislation and she was wrong...0
