Just a query, can anyone tell me what the carer allowance is, and at what points does it change on CS1? I understand that carers allowance stops when a child is 16, but I think I may have seen somewhere that at the age of 14 it is reduced???
Just wondered if anyone can clarify, at what ages it starts to become reduced, and if so, what it becomes reduced to?
Any advice greatly appreciated, as of course this is something else, we think CSA have got wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!

It may be 50% for 14 and above
25 % 11-14
Hope this helps ill try nd dig out some of my assesments0 -
We've never asked for the carers allowance to be changed in terms of my OH's daughter, for fear of rocking the boat with the CSA. Can we ask them to reduce this (SD is 13, nearly 14) without them doing a reassessment? (not that anything has changed recently, we just don't need the hassle). Sorry to jump on your post bdt1 !0

Yes after her 14th Birthday ask them to reduce the carers allowance0

But they will probably ask for other details - especially if the carers allowance doesn't change the assessment because it won't necessarily do so. You could find in fact that the assessment increases!0

Can I ask why a reduction in the carer's allowance may not make a difference to the assessment?0

It's to do with protected income also if they re asses at the same time there could have been a payrise etc .
My carers allowance of £33 was removed and only reduced my maintenance by £19 pw0 -
\because you may be paying a reduced amount to the notional assessment they make at the beginning of the calculation. Most people don't actually pay the full notional amount, but end up paying a reduced amount, so when the carers allowance is removed it doesn't change the amount they pay - it may reduce the notional assessment, but not enough to affect your payments.0

Can I ask though, does anyone know specifically the set full carers allowance for 1 child? Also same question for a child aged 11, and then 15?
Just so I'm crystal clear in regard to assessment being incorrect again!
In our case, this is a case from 2004 they are in process of correcting, so see what!!!!!!0 -
It is based on the income support rate for an adult which at the moment is £64.30 so at 11 it is reduced to 75% of this figure, at 14 half this figure and at 16 is removed completely.0

Maintenance needed for 1 child aged 10 at the moment would be £56.11 (child premium) + £17.30 (family premium)+ £64.30 (carer premium) less child benefit.
for 11 year old it would be £56.11 + £17.30 + 75% of £64.30 minus child benefit.0
