I pre booked a ticket with an on-line company for Virgin trains to travel to a football match that has now being cancelled. As the ticket was for a stated date and time have I any options for getting a refund or change of travel date?
Help please

I dont know if they changed their policy but they used to allow you get a refund/exchange but they charged a fiver for the privileged.0

If it is an advance ticket then it is probably not refundable.
If it not an advance ticket then it is probably refundable. A couple of years ago the admin fee for Virgin was £5, but it might be £10 now (I know that East Coast's is recently £10, and I can't see a reason why all of the train companies would have different policies...)0 -
What sort of ticket was it? That's crucial.
If it's an 'advance' ticket then you can change the date of travel for £10 plus any higher fare for the new date and time. You must do so before the original journet was due to start. You can't get a refund.
If it's an off peak or anytime ticket you can get a refund less a £10 fee. You normally need to get the claim in while the ticket is still valid.0 -
You don't say what day your ticket's for, but if it's in the future it's worth checking the national rail website here to see if your train would actually have been running anyhow. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/today.html
In the current weather there has been much disruption on the railways and certainly on (i think ) Tuesday and Wednesday of this week virgin were offering refunds to people who had tickets to travel on those days but decided not to because of the disruption.0
