We'll find out. I've just emailed MS Europe asking to explain what legislation allows them to collect this information, and what purpose it is required for. Also asked if there was a non-invasive alternative available, and if not, can I have a written guarantee of support for my licensed copy of XP should I choose not to install.

As I said on another thread... I think this is an experiment from Microsoft that will eventually be implimented into Vista. It is almost certain that its going to be written into the EULA that sending info back is mandatory. I also think the whole scenario of a kill switch will also be implimented. From microsofts point of view it is not forced upon you. If you dont want it you dont have to take it but you will forfiet any future updates.0
