I use firefox as my primary browser, but the same issue is with cometbird,. same issue with a different error message from IE, and the same problem using firefox in XP mode, last think to try is going to be a completely different machine.
All cookies are enabled..I think I've tried all the obvious steps..any suggestions?
When i click to sign in the following URL appears on the address bar prior to the failure
/ in the URL) so something is not parsing correctly, which suggests I could rebuild the URL if I knew all the coding...but that's no solution.

you tried redownloading firefox and fresh install of it to start with?0

that would be a good start - if I hadn't experienced the same issue with 4 browsers, 1 running on a VM

Bump and guesswork.
The 'junk' (%3A%2F%2F) is just ASCII encoding.

3 minutes without internet...suppose I'd better put the kettle on

I guess I've lost access to that account...I can't even ask youtube to sort it out as I used a disposable email address
