I'd better copy>paste this here as this is an active forum with some bright people on it..and I can't find the solution :(

Hopefully someone will be able to help
I have a youtube account which I use to upload the occasional screencast, but when I try to log in i get the following message
The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

* This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies.
Which then repeats each time I visit youtube until I remove cookies...then I can view all content, but I'm unable to edit my own content as I'm not logged in

I use firefox as my primary browser, but the same issue is with cometbird,. same issue with a different error message from IE, and the same problem using firefox in XP mode, last think to try is going to be a completely different machine.

All cookies are enabled..I think I've tried all the obvious steps..any suggestions?

When i click to sign in the following URL appears on the address bar prior to the failure
https://www.google.com/accounts/CheckCookie?continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fsignin%3Faction_handle_signin%3Dtrue%26nomobiletemp%3D1%26hl%3Den_GB%26next%3D%252Fuser%252Fmyusername&hl=en_GB&service=youtube&ltmpl=sso&chtml=LoginDoneHtml
Looks like characters are being swapped for junk (%3A%2F%2F instead of :// in the URL) so something is not parsing correctly, which suggests I could rebuild the URL if I knew all the coding...but that's no solution.

...

  • Google hasn't helped :(

Malware has been checked for - system clean (as I expected)

(and yes, this might be a sly bump to get this back onto the 1st page)

you tried redownloading firefox and fresh install of it to start with?
  • that would be a good start - if I hadn't experienced the same issue with 4 browsers, 1 running on a VM :(

    Bump and guesswork.

The 'junk' (%3A%2F%2F) is just ASCII encoding.

The multiple browser issue suggests maybe an isp/proxy issue.
    Have you tried a proxy?

I'm gonna have to try another machine - maybe it's the account :(

I viewed the site, then,. soon as I logged in
    The connection has timed out
The server at w3.hidemyass.com is taking too long to respond.
    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
    moments.

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

@HoofeHearted, they 4 browsers in 2 operating systems that I've tried each have their own caches, which have been cleared...repeatedly :(

Suppose I've not tried the obvious - reboot modem...as i assumed the added ascii was a local issue - but it may not be...
3 minutes without internet...suppose I'd better put the kettle on :(

right - rebooted the router and tried another physical machine, same issue :(

I guess I've lost access to that account...I can't even ask youtube to sort it out as I used a disposable email address :D
