Balance transfer Card or Purchasing Card ?

Options
Hello

I have been following the advice on the site with regard to credit cards and have today applied for a new credit card so I can transfer my current credit card balance.

As my credit rating has not been that great, I have opted to go for a card with a low rate for the duration of the balance rather than become a card 'tart' and keep moving the balance.

The card I have applied for is a Sainsburys Visa which as well as a low rate for balance transfers, also offers 0% on purchases for the first 10 months.

The advice on this site is that you should never use the card you use for balance transfers for purchases as well - should I stick to this with this card even though it is 0% on purchases ?? or should I still apply for a different credit card for purchases ?

What will happen after the 10 months are up ? I guess I will be charged the full interest rate for anything on the card which was not part of my balance transfer ? Is all very confusing.

Any wise words gratefully received :)

Saisbury's offer three different card and all are Visa cards:
The Standard and Platinum cards - 10 months 0% on purchases only
The Advantage card - 5 months 0% on purchases and balance transfers.
I don't know what card exactly you applied for
    Martin's advice in fact is:
Never, ever, ever, ever, ever……spend on a card after balance transferring to it!
The only exception are the few cards which offer the same cheap rate for spending and balance transfers, for the same length of time; then it's not an issue.
The Best Balance Transfers: cut the cost of existing credit card debts

When 0% period expires you start paying standard interest rate unless you pay the balance in full.
