Laptop buying advice please

Looking to buy a laptop for my mother who lives in Spain, no need to have any fancy programmes she just wants it mainly for the internet/e-mails and typing letters etc...

Any advice on what to get and where?

eBay for second hand or new and Dell or Dell Outlet for probably the cheapest well built laptops.

This looks quite good. My friend bought one of ebay, but it is actually cheaper here (he got stuck in the 'it's on ebay, so it must be cheaper' trap).
