Paint to match Rosewood UPVC?

Hi,
Nearly finished having almost everything exterior done in a (touch darkish) Rosewood UPVC but theres a few bits of wood in white paint that I want to paint to match as best as possible.
Can anyone recommend a good varnish or paint product and shade that will cover white well, last outdoors, probably more a satin finish than gloss. Don't mind a few coats if needed.
Thanks.

Hi,
as it's new wood, you could think of a wood stain, have a look here, you can get it in 250ml tin for about £7/8, you should be able to get it at your local DIY or paint shop.

ermmm thanks for reply... but I said its white painted wood, not new wood I want to cover.
I do know how to google thanks, but just finding a product doesn't mean its any good or the best, thats why forums exist - to ask peoples experience on products.European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
Hi,
oopsoops
,
yes, re-read your post, 'wood in white paint' got it. :j
Just thought with new wood better to stain first rather than varnish and then think 'should've stained'.
Sorry, just trying to be helpful, I've always found Ronseal products to be good.
Sorry again, hope I didn't wake you with my early reply, which wasn't very helpful. :rolleyes:0 -
Hi Sillygoose
Try Dulux trade woodstains. The range have water based or oil based products, and theres defo a rosewood in there. Might take a couple of coats to block out the white. We use them regularly & can recommend them.
There should be a Dulux trade centre in your area. Maybe even ask their advice
Its too cold to apply just yet, I'd recommend not less than about 10C.
Good Luck.

Agreed, one of the Dulux Opaque Woodstains would be fine......you could always undercoat the white paint work in a mid grey first, this would provide a better base for the finish coats.0
