Hi looking to buy a house @ 235k approx and sell my own one at 210k approx, any suggestions about what a reasonable price to pay would be as i have a strict budget.

Tbh I've found it varies massively. I just rang around a number of local agents and asked for prices based on a particular selling figure (we are just about to put ours on the market but aren't buying straight afterwards so it's just 'selling' right now). I was quoted between £500 right up to £870 for the same thing (selling at £185k estimate)! It's unbelievable! I also found the bank transfer charge (usually itemised separately) also varied enormously - cheapest £23, most expensive £42!
I've decided to go local though as in the past, I've found you often have to 'pop' things into the solicitors and it's not easy if they are 100s of miles away. A local one can save any hassle.
I would say ring round with the figures you have for your sale and purchase and they'll give you a figure over the phone.
ETA - I'd be v surprised if you can get both buying and selling conveyancing for £500! I think it's more likely to be the £1k mark. Of course, if you go local it also depends on where you live I guess.0 -
