PPI on bank overdrafts

Hi,Ive just noticed when I logged on to my Barclays bank account online that I am being charged protection insurance against my overdraft!! Has anyone come across this before and if so could they give me any advice on what I should do do get it refunded.Thanks Fallan :mad:

Hello there and welcome.;)

I feel this is the first you have become aware of this protection.

I think you can try to cancel this if you do not require this, I think like any other insurance it should be optional.

I think there are posts on here somewhere but as there are so many, goodness knows where lol.

This link above is useful and its the guidelines of reclaiming, check it out and please ask for help anytime.
Write to them with your reasons and of course if you definately don't think you need this, ask them to cancel the protection as well.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond, and post by recorded delivery, this is your proof of posting.


Hopefully someone will post up who have been in the same situation as you in regards of this type of protection with some useful advice for you.;)

Hi Thanks for the reply.I noticed it when I logged online just before Christmas.I contacted Barclays and they sent me a form which didnt make much sense it was more about loans than PPI I have sent them a reply today so will come back when I receive an answer.i live in a place called Glascoed nr Usk you say you live not far from me where exactly are you Cheers frankie:D

Barclays have today sent a cheque for 39 x £8 monthly payments for overdraft protection claimed on my husbands current account. This was a "goodwill gesture" after going through the Financial Ombudsman.
