Wow, he put all that in writing, mad! The threat of the "National Tenants Blacklist" is nothing to be worried about of course, and if that was presented in court or send to the deposit holder I think it would lend a lot of weight to any of your arguments.0

Hi Ted and Welcome to MSN
Please go after him and get him where it hurts most (pocket)
keep all paperwork .In fact he has started to dig his hole send him a few more perfectly reasonable letters see where it lets him run off his mouth into. Good luck and keep posting updates.
Tenancy deposit /gas regs note all your work down too
good luck:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0 -
final(ish) update to this post.
thank you for all of the advice. i got the deposit back, with a small deduction (40 pounds) for the carpet cleaning. he tried to claim the large amount for the mirror was due to sentimental reasons, the mirror was a 'gift from his grandmother' who obviously shopped at argos for cheap mirrors. the people reviewing the dispute thought that was a load of b******s, also because it was already noted on the signed inventory (his copy had gone 'missing', but i had a copy to hand!). so all minty there!
also, you might be interested that i am now taking legal action against him. my partner arrived back at our new property a couple of days after we got our deposit back, to find him spending a penny on our doorstep! she got a very nice photo with her phone, and we have had advice that we have a good case against him.
i hope our new landlord does not turn out to be as crazy as this one has been.0 -
Congratulations on getting nearly all of your deposit back! Most satisfactory.
Peeing on your doorstep? Your old landlord is a few sarnies short of a picnic. Definitely. Dunno what legal recourse you might have and what it might cost to put the frighteners on him but I wish you the very best of luck.0 -
Get your doorstep professionally cleaned and send him the bill together with a copy of the photo - what a pr*t!0

It seems obvious that after taking the p***, he was probably just returning it!
Glad you got it sorted.0 -
but relacing the ahlway caret wouldnt cost £500?
how can this be allowed?
hes got a cheek afetr all the wrk youve done on his house and hes spent the deposit and cant give it back more like! (hence why you had to do the work needed not him)
didnt you use the deposit scheme- what you trusted him with your despoisit?
why dont you offer to relace the whole of the hallway caret for him- get one of similar looks and apearance- but get it from a discount, off cut place and fit it yourself, youll still then get £400 back
i think the true issue is- hes hard up and hasnt got it
you need to go to CAB or solicitor maybe?
thats taking the MICKEY0 -
dont be a Xunt?
get this letter down to CAB straight away- let them take over the correspondance fo you- they are very good there, his behaviour is abhorrent- dont be a Xunt? what kind of correspondance is that? take hm to small claims court- this would look great in court and you would be refunded your money- carpet cleanng doesnt cost £250
i guess you didnt like each other- sounds like more is behind this0 -
