Ripped off by Website uggboots-australiaUK

My wife placed an order with UGGBootsAustraliaUK (Same site)
The amount on the invoice was £72.99
The amount charged to the account (Visa Debit card) was £79.99.
The Payment was processed via Patrasys.com.

The site is now DOWN for maintenance. So it says!
It appears to me that the site is a fake site, and I will be lucky to get any boots from them.

The whois of the site gives some bloke in china

I phoned my bank (Halifax) hoping that as they took the wrong amount I could get the payment refunded - no joy there, they said they can issue a debit card correction form to the company after 30 days!

She never used the credit card as the amount was under £100, so would not have got any protection that way.

I have emailed the third party payment company that took the payment ( Patrasys.com) , but have yet to recieve a response.

Bank told be to contact CAB.

Is there any way to recover these funds?

You are correct in thinking its fraud. And no offence but you should tell your wife its foolish to think you can make anything more than 10-15% saving on designer goods online. (for future reference.

As for your issue, visa does actually carry out a charge back procedure similar to credit card protection. I'm not too sure on how it works but get back onto halifax and ask them you would like a charge back as the goods are likely to be fake (if they ever turn up).
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

You cannot buy Ugg Australia boots for £72. Cheap copies yes, but not genuine boots. Ugg Australia is not affiliated with ANY website containing the name Ugg aside from its own. You buy from one of those sites you are getting generic Uggs, Not Ugg Australia.

You will need to provide proof that you have made every effort to contact the merchant so print out all emails, order forms etc etc, you will also need to wait for the delivery to be 'late' or the chargeback will not be authorised.

If it looks to good to be true..........
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
