My daughter has a 6 month old NB 100 netbook - Intel atom running WinXP.
When switching on it starts CHKDSK on Disk C. It completes Stage 1(verifying files) and starts Stage 2(verifying indexes) and when it gets to 15% it switches off.
If you Cancel CHKDSK, Windows starts up for a few seconds and then crashes.
Pressing F2 will take you to setup utility - F12 will take you to boot manager(sometimes) but it still switches off.
Any ideas please?

Does it when connected to mains - I checked i/p of 19vDC is present.
Symptoms identical even when switched on when left in a cold room for a while and its fan not blowing warm air.0
