And they wouldn't email you about something like that. Actually I don't think they send anything via email unless you do your self assesment online.0

From the HMRC website:
"HMRC do not send notifications of a tax rebate over email, or request that you update your security certification. If you receive an email that doesn’t address you by your first name and surname and then asks you to click on a link and/or disclose your details, you may well be revealing your details to a fraudulent website."
So like those lovely emails you get from banks you don't bank with asking you to update your details or those lovely emails from the lottery of bobland saying you have won a big prize but please give us an admin fee in advance to 'release your funds', report as phishing and delete!0 -
I got a tax rebate a couple of years ago. It came in the form of a cheque and it came in the post.
Common sense dictates why would HMRC contact me by e-mail when they do not have and never will have my e-mail address.
These scammers must think evryone is as thick and stupid as they are.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -

What the F is "fiscal activity" when its at home?!
Surely these Nigerian gangs could all chip in and hire at least one English speaker to compose/proof their emails.....0 -

If I remember correctly, HMRC don't give out tax refunds automatically, you have to get in contact with them first to ask them to "review your account", then they will send you a cheque if you have indeed over-paid your tax for the past year0
