odd commands occurring randomly when typing

Can anyone give me an idea what might be happening? Whenever I type text in Word, Skype messaging, or Thunderbird email, when I use the shift key to get capital letters, text is getting highlighted/or deleted, or the cursor jumps to a line above and so sentences get muddled up or deleted unless I keep a very close eye - it is as if the shift key is functioning as a command shortcut key.

For instance, when I typed the capital W just now, the whole above block of text got highlighted, and I had to cancel it. But when I typed it again, the problem didn't happen, so it is an intermittent thing.

What might be the cause and how can I correct it?

Thanks in advance for suggestions and solutions

You may have a sticky keyboard? Or if you are on a laptop, your wrist is accidentally brushing the trackpad causing the cursor to jump all over the screen?

Try cleaning your keyboard first, use a can of compressed air or flip the keyboard upside down to clear out the crumbs.

Sorry - forgot to say it is an MSI laptop - no sign of a model number or name.

    Thanks for suggestions

sounds like your palm is touching the touchpad. you wont be the first person it happens too. If you use a mouse turn off the pad in control panel under mouse device. if you are using the touchpad concider trying to alter your typing style so that you dont touch it, might feel weird at first but you will get used to it
