Extended Car Warranty

Hi all,
Firstly many apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section, I couldnt see where else I could put it.
I brought my car, a 2006 reg Toyota Yaris from the main dealer in Derby about 9 months ago. When buying the car, the sales person informed me that they were giving me an extra years warranty on the car, one that he claimed was "just like the manufacturers warranty", and hence part of the reason I brought the car as the warranty was a very important part of the deal for me.
However, I have just rang to book my car in for repair with my Toyota dealership, the one I brought the car from, and they have informed me that although any repairs neede on my car would be free, to actually diagnose the problem could cost me up to £75 an hour as this isn't covered by the warranty they provided. I argued stating I was assured this would be exactly the same as manufacturers warranty but provided by the dealership, Inchscape, instead of Toyota, yet they assured me that I was informed this at time of purchase. I was not, as I would not have brought the car if this was the case.
I was wondering where I stand in regards to this, I have re-read my policy documents regarding this warranty agreement this evening and have been unable to find anything stating I will be liable for any diagnostic work needed on my car. On calling back Inchscape the nice woman on the end of the phone however assured me that it was there, and she will ring me back tomorrow telling me where to find it.
I feel very cheated at the moment, I brought this car due to the fact I believed I was getting another years hassle free driving, as all problems with the car would be sorted out free of charge yet it appears this may not be the case.
Just wondering if anyone had any idea where I stand and what I can do now, the work needs doing, but I don't see why I should have to find the money to pay for the diagnostic.
Many Thanks

"just like the manufacturers warranty"exactly the same as manufacturers warranty
"just like" and "exactly like" are not the same thing.
Now, assuming this clause was mentioned in your T&C's then....
You had access to T&C's on purchase so unless you can prove what you were told, and then prove that this could lead you to "reasonably" beleive that the warrant covered diagnostics then you have a case.
However, i highly suspect you cannot, and therefore, are up a stream without a paddle.
Its tough luck really
If this clause was not present then you have every right to enforce the service without charge.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I didn't quite notice what I put then, the salesman informed me the extended warranty acted the same as the manufacturers warranty. There was no mention of "like" and I was wrong to put that in the above post, and I must apologise, I was just trying to get the first post written as quickly as possible.
As I'm only 21, I was fortunate enough to have quite a few members of my family with me when I actually signed for the car, about 8 in total, who are all in agreement with me that the sales people stated this warranty was exactly the same as the Toyota warranty, just under a different name, so I know I didn't miss hear or understand him.
I keep re-reading the T&C's that came with the information that came with the warranty doc's and I still cannot find any information or clause relating to a charge that must be paid by me in relation to anything, well anything covered by the manufacturers 3 year warranty.
Thankyou for your help anyway, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the dealership have to say tomorrow, and where exactly this clause is located.0
