Need a "normal" car for icy hill next winter.

A set of tyres in prep for next winter is sound advice, failing that you could buy a snowmobile or even a snow plough.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

I came across these yesterday, they look like a fantastic alternative to winter tyres or chains.

Why have we never heard of these before?0 -
4x4s and winter tyres are great, but only as good as the driver in front...
If they can't move, neither can you

Bought a pair back in Feb after the last lot of snow. They are great and transformed my Mondeo from being pants in the snow to having much more grip with very little slipping. The big downside is that being fabric they can get ripped easily so driving on bare tarmac or spinning the wheels is best avoided. One of mine got badly ripped from wheel spinning trying to get up a very steep country lane. I am probably going to get some winter tyres on steel rims as a more permanent solution. The autosocks are well worth having in the boot though to get you home or out of trouble. A doddle to fit.0
